Easy as 1,2,3...
Below are the basic steps, please download the instruction sheet for more detailed information.
1. Install an Undercover Clip near a verticle support post by aligning it with the pool ledge and rotating the clip into place.
2. Pull the cord across the pool and fasten the second Undercover Clip near the opposite verticle support post.
3. Repeat steps 1 and 2 to create an evenly distributed, cross-hatch pattern. (An ice pillow is optional.)
4. Drape the cover across the cords along one edge of the pool. Align the cover edge with the pool ledge and fasten in place with a 22 inch Secure Fit Pool Clip.
5. Pull the remaining cover across the pool and Undercover Cords.
6. Adjust the length of the cords by depressing the button on each adjustable cord lock so the ropes rest lightly across the water.
7. Use the remaining 22 inch Secure Fit Pool Cover Clips to adjust and evenly distribute the cover as needed.
Tips and Tricks
Installation Kit tips:
- Install the last set of Undercover Clips in the direction of the wind and pull the cover across the pool against the wind to help raise the cover as you pull. This will also help to get the cover over the ice pillow easier (if used).
- Pull the cover across the pool in the direction of the last pairs of Undercover Clips that were installed as the cords are on top and will guide the cover without binding or snagging.
If used with a permeable cover:
The Undercover kit will allow you to offset pool opening cost by reclaiming ice melt and rain water through the following procedure:
- Close the skimmer valve after the threat of freezing has passed.
- Detach a Secure Fit Cover Clip and stretch the cover so that water accumulates in one small area.
- Re-attach the Secure Fit Cover Clip and adjust the Undercover cord tightness accordingly.
- Repeat the procedure with the remaining three Secure Fit Cover Clips provided in the Undercover installation kit.
AFTER THE WATER DRAINS THROUGH THE COVER THE CORDS SHOULD BE RE-ADJUSTED AS DESCRIBED IN STEP 9 OF THE INSTALLATION KIT INSTRUCTIONS. DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN THE UNDERCOVER CORDS AS THAT MAY CAUSE EXCESSIVE STRESS TO THE POOL LEDGE.
Ice Pillow attachment:
The use of an ice pillow is optional with the Secure Fit Pool Cover Clip System. If you do use one, stretching the pool cover over the ice pillow can be a frustrating experience. This may be made less of a hassle through the following steps:
- Unfasten an Undercover Clip and align it next to an adjacent Undercover cord.
- Loosely attach the ice pillow to both Undercover cords with a loop of rope, cord or carabineer clip.
- Re-fasten the first Undercover Clip to its original position. That will guide the ice pillow towards the center of the pool where it will remain as the cover is pulled across it.
If the Undercover cords were not pre-cut:
Wrap a piece of masking tape 1 and a 1/2 times around the cord and then cut the cord at the middle of the tape to make threading the cord easier.
